  • 08/15/2011 Mozilla has changed their development process for Thunderbird and SeaMonkey to a schedule driven releas cycle with new releases every 6-12 weeks. That's extremely often for an add-on like Enigmail which needs to be compiled specifically for each version. In order to cope with this new development model, we adapted our release model:

    • Enigmail releases will be snapshots of the GIT trunk, without release branches. A release is a combination of the nightly builds for all relevant platforms of the comm-beta branch combined with localization.

    • Unless severe blocker bugs make Enigmail unusable for many users, there will be no releases without a corresponding new Thunderbird version.

    • Most releases will only contain a small number fixed bugs (if any) or new features. Unless there is really new functionality worth mentioning, new releases will not be announce to the mailing list, the forum nor the news items on this page.

    • Version numbers will start with 1.3 (which is actually 1.2.1 with two fixed bugs); subsequent releases without major changes will obtain version numbers with changes on the 3rd digit (e.g. 1.3.1, and 1.3.2).

    • Trunk builds – even though almost identical to release versions – will be labelled 1.*a1pre, where "*" is the next major version number, starting tomorrow with 1.4a1pre.

  • 07/30/2011 Enigmail v1.2.1 has been released. Several defects were fixed with this release.
